I loved your book, and so appreciated this post. I have a couple books in me, but they will take so.very.much. to write and the thought of what it takes to actually get the book into readers’ hands kills my desire to write every time. Your reminders that we don’t have to play the game are so helpful.
It's hard. There are lots of ways to write and publish these days, and I think they all depend on your reasons. So much about publishing is timing - and that can be a good thing! You can work on getting a book into readers' hands long before the book exists. Write on!
Thank you for being an example of a sustainable approach to this writing work. Hopefully as more and more of us refuse to get on the hamster wheel things will slowly begin to shift.
You know what I hope shifts? The quality of our *writing* and the level of hospitality and care we can offer readers within it. And I hope "the system" finds a way to value that appropriately.
Glad to share! I think at some point I realized no one could guarantee I would continue to succeed at all this even if I killed myself to do all the things, so I should probably just have fun with it.
I could go on and on. Thanks for such an honest take on the book publishing journey. I rarely talk about my own experiences with both self- and traditional publishing because . . . it was very hard.

Oh thank you!

Thanks Lyndsey, this is one hopeful thing out of a thousand negative things I have read about book publishing lately.

Thank you for writing this!
